Current Research:

My research focuses on how online interactions are similar to or different from spoken interactions. My data comes from instant messaging chats via the Facebook ‘chat’ facility, and I am using conversation analysis to analyze the interactions. Specifically I am interested in how the affordances of the online medium allow for differences in interactional practices to have developed. I am also interested in how social relationships are maintained using the internet.

Research Interests:

Conversation analysis, discursive psychology, internet interactions, instant messaging.
