The assessment of a placement at a European university is undertaken in accordance with Regulation XI: Diploma in Industrial Studies and Diploma in Professional Studies
Departmental Procedure
- Students must perform satisfactorily in their studies as judged by their External Tutor and Departmental Tutor. Normally this will mean their obtaining credits in 2/3 or more of the module weighting that would be taken by a home student at the same university, as recorded in their transcript. The module weighting will be reduced pro rata if students perform successfully in non-credit project work as part of their studies.
- Students must submit a dissertation of about 2000 words on their studies or a closely related topic. (If the student's studies include a project module, then subject to the Departmental Tutor's approval, the project report may be submitted instead of a dissertation.) The Departmental Tutor in consultation with the External Tutor agrees a suitable topic for the student to report. The student writes a dissertation on this topic; it is assessed by the Departmental Tutor in collaboration with the External Tutor. The dissertation must be submitted by the end of the first week of semester 1 of the student's final year.
- Students must submit a short interim progress report (not more than 6 pages of A4 typing) on their studies abroad. The student writes a short report on his/her period of study abroad so far. It is assessed by the Departmental Tutor in collaboration with the External Tutor and the Departmental Tutor completes an Interim Report Assessment Form.
The interim report must be submitted to the Departmental Tutor by 31st January.
- Students must submit a poster on their studies abroad.
Successful completion of these requirements leads to the award of Diploma in International Studies on graduation.
