Our School has a strong and growing research programme with world-class research activities and facilities.
The School's research quality is reflected by an excellent rating in the most recent UK Research Assessment Exercise by independent peers (2008). 95% of the School’s research activity is of an international standard. Accordingly, we give research a high priority, with a clear commitment to continually strengthen and revitalise our research base.

Within these three divisions we have nine research groups and a number of dedicated research centres. We are also members of two of the University's interdisciplinary research schools.
