Pongpan was born in the city of Chonburi, Thailand. He graduated in Electrical Engineering (B.Eng) from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok. In 2003, he won the Royal Thai Government Scholarship to study renewable energy technology. He received a M.Sc. Renewable Energy Systems Technology from Loughborough University in September, 2004 and fully joined CREST in December, the same year as a PhD research student.
He is working in Applied Photovoltaics Research Group (APV). The group’s research focuses on various photovoltaic (PV) technologies in particular thin film silicon solar cell in the aspect of indoor/outdoor performance, characterisation and structure modelling.
His PhD research is emphasis on the spatial characterisation where a laser beam induced current system (LBIC) as well as 3D distributed model via circuit analysis software are developed. Moreover, he also involves in the long term outdoor monitoring system including design, installation, maintenance and data analysis.
