  • The theory and practice of the effective management and retrieval of information in very large scale distributed information resources (coping with complexity, inconsistency, incompleteness; offering reliability, privacy and non-repudiation)
  • The investigation of teaching techniques for large classes which encourage reflection, learning and the development of useful skills without overloading staff
  • The development of 'systems' skills in undergraduates
