Adept Management provides consultancy services for design, development and civil engineering companies, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget. Adepts approach saves companies time and money by organising operations much more efficiently and preventing losses caused by project
over-runs.
BACKGROUND
Adept Management's methodology comes from a collaborative research programme in the early 1990s which recognised that complex processes in construction projects need to be understood before they can be managed effectively. After growing interest in these approaches, Adept Management was created in 2001 to take their expertise and experience to market.
PRODUCTS/SERVICES
Adept has developed a new and unique approach to analysing and improving complex civil engineering project processes to deliver them more quickly, with lower costs, fewer risks and less delayed work. In the architectural, engineering and construction industry 37% of design commissions overspend, 59% are late, 48% of construction projects overspend and 40% of work is late. The ‘Analytical Design Planning Technique’ developed by Adept Management helps companies avoid these challenges, using a supporting software application for optimising and scheduling business and project processes.
Adept works with organisations to define, re-engineer, plan and manage projects efficiently and effectively, from the earliest concepts right through to completion. Adept provides software comprising of two key components: the ADePT planning tool and the ADePT control tool. The software can be used for process re-engineering, sequencing activities and programme development, project process management, monitoring and control, change and impact analysis, and control of associated risks. This ensures projects are delivered with more predictability, and in many cases with reductions in cost and timescale.
Adept Management’s consultants work on design management and process streamlining, delivering their best practice and practical experience to organisations spanning many sectors, with an emphasis on construction and engineering. Recent clients have included Bouygues, Skanksa, Balfour Beatty and Costain. Adept has worked on projects across the globe including the US, Dubai and the Cayman Islands.
FORWARD STRATEGY
Adept Management is a profitable company with an established customer base. Turnover has grown to around £1.3 million, with 14 members of staff. Adept currently has contracts for 10 to 12 copies of ADePT with both Costain and Taylor Wood construction, and 5 copies or more with Edmund Nuttal and Al-Futtaim Carillion.
Adept plans to establish new clients across the world, and meet its 2006 targets of 20% gross profit. It is now raising new finance to expand based on new proprietary software.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
Adept holds all of the intellectual property in the adept methodology including trademarks and a UK patent. They currently have a patent pending for the US, and are also applying for a further patent in preparation for the ADePT control tool.
